Hello lifestyle30 readers. If you are a writer/poet/blogger/photographer, this writing project is for you.
project30: a new literary journal
I created project30, a literary journal just for us, creative individuals in our 30’s who have the ability to offer a unique perspective on life, based on our own personal life experiences.
why project30?
project30 is especially for those people who may have begun their professional careers right after high school or college, started a family, or even may have abandoned your writing goals based on the fact that you were scared to step out on faith to pursue writing and took the safe route of a 9 to 5 job. Either way, project30 journal brings us full circle and opens the door to pursue our true passion and purpose as writers. It will be a place where the 30 and over poet, African American, photographer, and essayist, or blogger will have a voice and an opportunity to realize a long awaited goal of what I like to call “grown up creativity”.
A CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
In celebration of writing, it’s official, a call for submissions to the project30 journal Inaugural issue has begun! The theme for the first issue will be “Bootcamp: Becoming A Writer, Later”. This theme can take on many meanings, so I trust there will be some interesting submissions.
The guidelines for submissions to project30 journal are:
- Submissions are being accepted from African American poets, photographers, and bloggers who are 30 and over.
- All submissions will be accepted electronically at project30@lifestyle30.org
- project30 is only accepting 10 poems , 10 photos, and 10 essays per (hard copy) issue. Other submissions may be selected to be posted on the website, in the “extras” section. Also, all submissions must be well written using correct grammar and punctuation, but are subject to being edited.
- Each submission must adhere to the theme of the issue.
- Each submission must also be accompanied by an email address, website/blog, and a short, brief bio of the writer/artist submitting and your experience as a creative person and what has brought you to this point in life as a writer. (All bios are subject to editing to fit journal space.)
- There is NO PRIZE or MONEY involved, only recognition and acknowledgment as a writer or photographer pursuing his/her craft and support from a community of other like-minded writers and artists.
- Persons chosen to have their work published, will have their profile featured in the project30 journal, both hard copy, which will be available for purchase, and on the project30 website (coming soon) but you can visit http://grownupcreativity.yolasite.com for details.
- If you submit a poem, photo, or essay and your submission is not chosen for this issue, your submission may be put on file for a future issue or shredded/recycled (you will be consulted prior to use).
- The project30 reading period will be July 1, 2010 to December 15, 2010
- Writers/Artists who submit material, will be notified by December 15, 2010 about the status of your submission.
- The project30 journal 2011 issue will be published on January 15, 2011 and a hard copy may be purchased at www.magcloud.com (coming soon!)
I thank you ahead of time, for your support. Please share with others.
